Coming Down

It's Sunday now, and I'm still coming down after a... Well, an eventful Friday night on the piss.

It started like most of these Friday nights out: in the afternoon. A pretty fractured, but stimulating, conversation with a friend of mine on a possible comic book collaboration, led into some conversation with another mate about Alexei Sayle’s Stuff (a forgotten classic of TV comedy – finally brought out on DVD by the BBC!). From there, the afternoon, and evening went as normal as any Friday night does. I apologised to someone for something I can’t remember doing, got chatted up by a large girl, said hello to someone I haven’t seen in a while, blagged a couple of chocolate biscuits from behind the bar and got a length hug off a girl I know (who I probably have stronger feelings for than I’m prepared to admit, but that, as they say, is another story).

The most eventful part of it was when I ended up talking to a girl who my mate knows. She helped me out by talking to me so I could avoid talking to someone else, and later, I flirted with her, and I ended up kissing her.

It’s no big deal, I know, but I don’t why I can’t stop being stunned by the fact that I did it.

MySpace

I've just created a profile on MySpace!

And I've just realised I have nothing interesting to add to it...

Version 2.0

Okay, let’s start this again…

First off, I suppose, has to be the question: why Blog? Well, originally, this was meant to be a way for me to let off steam, and have a good old rant about stuff in general. Unfortunately, it turned into a lot of bitching about my day job, and the idiots who are in charge. Lately, though, I’ve been thinking: my job is my job, and I check it at the door when I clock out each day.

What I’d really like to do – this is my dream, if you want – is to become a full time, professional writer. I, like most people who do Blogs, foolishly believed that this Blog would become some cornerstone of popular culture, some great commentary on the state of the world that would achieve worldwide cult status, and thus help me make a step on the path of my dream.

This was, of course, a complete load of bollocks.

So, I thought ‘I’ve got this Blog all set up, so why not do something more…interesting with it?’ I’ve been contemplating using it as a way to express the highs and lows along my journey to make it as a writer, but how interesting would that be to people? How interesting is any Blog? Is a Blog really a thing of cultural significance or just the extension of the Blogger’s ego? How many Blogger’s does it take to change a light bulb? If a Blog falls in the forest and there’s no one around to hear it, does it make a sound?

So, what’s this Blog going to be about?

I haven’t got a fucking clue.
